What Is Daxxify?

Daxxify is an injectable neuromodulator made with daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm. It temporarily reduces the nerve signals that cause targeted facial muscles to contract, allowing the skin above those muscles to appear smoother.

Unlike other commonly used neuromodulators, Daxxify contains a proprietary peptide stabilizer and does not contain human serum albumin. It is FDA-approved for temporarily improving moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. These vertical creases, often referred to as glabellar lines or “11s,” form through repeated movements such as concentrating, squinting, and frowning.

What Concerns Can Daxxify Address?

Daxxify is primarily used to soften dynamic wrinkles, which appear or deepen when the facial muscles move. Its FDA-approved cosmetic indication is limited to moderate to severe glabellar lines.

An experienced injector may also recommend a neuromodulator for other movement-related concerns, depending on your anatomy and goals. These uses are considered off-label and require an individual evaluation.

Whether wrinkle-relaxing treatment is preventative or corrective depends less on a specific age and more on when your lines appear. Preventative treatment addresses lines that mainly show during expression, while corrective treatment targets lines that remain visible when the face is at rest.

You may be a candidate if you:

• Want a nonsurgical treatment with little interruption to your routine
• Prefer natural-looking softening rather than a dramatic change

Tell your injector about your medications, allergies, previous injectable treatments, and any conditions affecting your muscles or nerves. Daxxify should not be administered if you have an infection at the planned injection site or a known allergy to Daxxify or another botulinum toxin product. Patients who are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding should also discuss this with their provider.

Recovery and Daxxify Results

Daxxify requires little to no downtime. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising may occur around the injection sites. Most patients can return to work and other routine activities after leaving the office.

Your injector will provide aftercare instructions based on your treatment. You may be asked to avoid rubbing the area, strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and lying flat for a short period.

Results may begin appearing as early as the day after treatment and typically become noticeable within two days. In clinical studies, more than half of patients still had no or mild frown lines six months after treatment. Results vary, and some patients metabolize neuromodulators more quickly than others.

Daxxify should not be administered more frequently than once every three months. Your maintenance schedule will be based on how long your results remain visible and when muscle movement begins to return.
